THE BLOOD OF JESUS

John 6:55 For my flesh is meat indeed, and my blood is drink indeed.

No doubt that you have heard the familiar exclamation from mother, that old aunt or loquacious sister [funny something only ascribed it to the women folks] ‘blood of Jesus, why do you….or how could that be…or ‘. This ‘blood of Jesus ‘, in our daily conversation to express outrage or surprise, we often take it for granted. We read in the book of the acts of the apostles how some folks, the sons of sceva engaged Demons without knowing a thing about the power in the name JESUS: Acts 19:14-16, And there were seven sons of one Sceva, a Jew, and chief of the priests, which did so. And the evil spirit answered and said, Jesus I know, and Paul I know; but who are ye? And the man in whom the evil spirit was leaped on them, and overcame them, and prevailed against them, so that they fled out of that house naked and wounded. While not placing our aunties and mothers in danger of having a demon to deal with I just want us to know that there is more to the blood than many christian know. let us just sow the seed here and believe that the Holy spirit will water it to grow.

Leviticus 17:11 For the life of the flesh is in the blood: and I have given it to you upon the altar to make an atonement for your souls: for it is the blood that maketh an atonement for the soul. ATONMENT in old testament times means the act of allowing something else to take the place of the sinner in death. It commanded this the jews to do every year through their priest. It is better explained in the book of Exodus. see Exodus 30:10 And Aaron shall make an atonement upon the horns of it once in a year with the blood of the sin offering of atonements: once in the year shall he make atonement upon it throughout your generations: it is most holy unto the LORD. It is the blood that stands or takes the place of the souls that have sinned and must die for that sin. Ezekiel 18:4 Behold, all souls are mine; as the soul of the father, so also the soul of the son is mine: the soul that sinneth, it shall die. Just like we have detergent power for cleansing, bar soap for bathing so too, the only thing that removes sin from us before God is the blood of a spotless lamb. But this was not even enough to do the cleansing permanent. It was a temporal exercise to foreshadow the permanent solution that God has provided for himself. This solution was in his begotten son Jesus christ who was to be born and a forerunner was made in the person of the great John the Baptist.John the baptist introducing him exclaimed to the people of Israel and indeed, the world: John 1:29 The next day John seeth Jesus coming unto him, and saith, Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world. The ultimate act to complete this whole wonderful work of our salvation culminated in Jesus being nailed to the cross. The spilled blood was not for nought, the spilled blood speaks volumes for your salvation, it was needful for it to be shed for the remission of our sins. Hebrews 10:18 Now where remission of these is, there is no more offering for sin. This put paid to the annual sacrifices that was only a temporal one. Our bodies is sustain by the food we eat, but for our souls to live and have eternal life, they must be sustain by the blood of Jesus: John 6:54-56 Whoso eateth my flesh, and drinketh my blood, hath eternal life; and I will raise him up at the last day. For my flesh is meat indeed, and my blood is drink indeed. He that eateth my flesh, and drinketh my blood, dwelleth in me, and I in him. Transgression and sin placed us under bondage to Satan and that results in demonic oppression and all manners of spiritual backwardness; it alienated us from God our creator and robs us of our peace with Him. It was a bongage that only Bhrist has the solution and He calls out to you today: Matthew 11:28-29 Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. Our redemption as christians and people under bondage was done by Jesus through his blood, 1 Peter 1:18-19 Forasmuch as ye know that ye were not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver and gold, from your vain conversation received by tradition from your fathers; But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot:

Our peace with God was made possible by the spilled blood of his body on the cross John 20:19-23 Then the same day at evening, being the first day of the week, when the doors were shut where the disciples were assembled for fear of the Jews, came Jesus and stood in the midst, and saith unto them, Peace be unto you. And when he had so said, he shewed unto them his hands and his side. Then were the disciples glad, when they saw the Lord. Then said Jesus to them again, Peace be unto you: as my Father hath sent me, even so send I you. And when he had said this, he breathed on them, and saith unto them, Receive ye the Holy Ghost: Whose soever sins ye remit, they are remitted unto them; and whose soever sins ye retain, they are retained.

All spiritual sacrifice requires blood; the blood of Jesus which is sinless and does not contain the seed of the man has the quality to deal a permanent blow to the problem of sin and transgression. Hebrews has this to say, [Hebrews 12:24] And to Jesus the mediator of the new covenant, and to the blood of sprinkling, that speaketh better things than that of Abel.

See you in church.
