COME, LET US MAKE US A NAME
There is nothing absolutely wrong to dream of a goal we want to achieve under one month, year or even a decade. There is nothing wrong with inspirations, indeed, God said, 'occupy till i come'. Meaning keep yourself busy, innovative, improve and contribute to the world you are living. [Luke19:13]
For me, i believe it is really a shame for any individual to leave the world without having contributed any thing in any wise. I earnestly believe that one of the first duty of man when he comes of age is to seek and inquire of the Lord the purpose of his being here on earth. When we fail to do this we stand the risk of being rudderless; drifting wherever circumstance and prevailing conditions takes us and that is dangerous and a blue print for failure. The bible says in the book of proverbs29:18, 'where there is no vision the people perish'.
In the book of Genesis11 from verse one, we are confronted with a typical example of what looks right and wonderful, but before God, it was utter and willful disobedience to his sovereign will. Firstly, they want to remain together as a community and a people, be great without relying on the hand of God to lift them secondly,they want to make a name for themselves[vision without bringing God in to]it was the first challenge to God"s sovereignty and the first defiance to spread out as a people.
'And i will say to my soul, soul, thou hast much goods laid up for many years take thine ease, eat, drink and be merry'.[luke12:18]obviously, this man has no time for God and does not see how God fits into his prosperity. There is no real prosperity if we refuse to use God's yardstick as a measurement. The bible talk about 'good success' in the book of Joshua chapter 1-10. Just like God visited the people at Babel to hear the final conclusion, so too, God visited this Man and God;s conclusion finalized it all. The verdict?:a stop was placed on their so called progress and attempt to make name for themselves.If God is with us no one can stop us from succeeding, conversely if God's face is set against us, a snap of his mighty fingers will put the brakes on our lives and our walls of success. Remember the Wall of Jericho? suppose to be a reference point of fornication and and strength, but crumpled like a pack of cards.
Moreover, i want to ask how you measure success?, what yardstick do you as a person use?The people of at the towel had their own yardstick and the rich man had his, too, but both were wrong before God. Let us therefore, learn to use God's standard
