IN THIS SNOW?
It has been snowing all day long and it would take the faithful to just remember that the changing and stinging weather must never be in the way when it has do with God, service or work. yet, truth be told, if there is any day on our calender we want to sacrifice it is the day of going to service that comes cheapest. The club always provide fun, relaxation and the latest gossip, making the round in order for us to unwind. The family get together? No way! can not let that pass us it is only once a month, besides, been looking forward to discussing this issue with my brother in-law. Let it rain cat and dogs we still have to do the shopping for the preceding week How about the social union? those who fail to show up without a convincing and cogent reason still have to pay the stipulated price for absentees. In these days that money is scarce who the hell wants to cough out avoidable expenses?.
Yes, the children's outing. I do not have the cheek to tell them it should be shelved. they never understood and not ready even now to understand. To avoid the long faces, the grumbling and the murmuring i just have to take them out. moreover, he tiny tots deserved their days i can not deny them?
Thus, Christians find it very convenient to sacrifice days of services while making excuses why they can not miss other activities. Regular attendance is becoming a thing of the past for the majority of parishioners commitment is a vague word and if you drum it too hard they will just step into the other church and forget about this pastor whose talk is about lack of commitment all day long; boring and uninteresting, my God! You just have to feel it to go if you do not feel like going why not stay at home? No qualms, no regret and nothing loss. This sort of outing has filled our pews lukewarm worshipers neither hot nor cold. The place for such is to be spewed out by the lord. Faithfulness, is required of us in services as well as in other areas of our christian lives. Our calling is not to 'feel' before we attend services; it is a duty. It is a task for others to see how we value our christian faith and take seriously our salvation.
Let the blazing sun melt the wax and hardens the clay, let the snow bury the trees, let the cold freeze the blood we will still attend services if it falls on service day.
It is this kind of faithfulness that God demands of worshipers not irregular attendance in summer and zero attendance in winter. Go the church in this heavy snow? church in winter? haba! pastor, please i do not have such grace.
As for the omnipotent one, he is taking note and just waiting to commend somebody like he commended job.' well done, good and faithful servant'.
