FATHERS LESSONS

There is no doubt in my mind that you and i want to be referred to as a father, Wait a minute, not just a father , but a good father. You can only imagine  the hissing and wincing when this celebration comes up and those  beautiful children who felt there fathers  are not fit to be called one.Yes, many kids wince and look away when you talk about 'FATHERS DAY'. But why? To talk a little about our role as fathers let us go back to history. Let us take the bible as a case to study for therein, is the first father mentioned. Do you think he succeeded as a role model? Personally, i belief our core character is formed at home and our parents gives us the first impression of what to expect and how to react when facing the word out there from our kindergartner days.  Let us therefore, say few things here that will improve your role as a father as we take time off to celebrate this day.


  1. As fathers indeed, we ought to led the direction the family will go. for example, which God to worship. A man once said as for me and my household we will serve the lord[Joshua] That shows a man in control of his house. When it comes to the God to serve and worship a father ought to led the way as long as any one is under your roof. With God or gods comes different spirits. the one you allow will manifest in your household.
  2. As fathers indeed, we ought to possess the uncanny ability to be a good team leader, weaving through all in the family, making them work together , love together and live together, while growing  their distinctive role and talents.
  3. As fathers indeed, we ought to be able to well our position as the priest of the house. we must correct forgive make sacrifices as Job did and led the family alter in prayers and fasting when required. We should always have blessing in our mouth offering it more than the conventional thank you.
  4. As fathers indeed, we ought to be able to read our children and wards behavioral patterns and offer praise when earned and not spare disciples when required, too.
  5. Mothers are prune to be emotional attached to their children and wards while men are known to tend towards instilling disciples, guidance, and necessary traits that will enable  them face squarely whatever challenge life have to offer.  
  6. The bible places the position of children upbringing on the father.  Proverbs 22:6 ,Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.  The sudden death of Eli the priest was the result of his children waywardness and moral laxity. 1 Samuel 2:12-15 Now the sons of Eli were sons of Belial; they knew not the LORD. And the priests' custom with the people was, that, when any man offered sacrifice, the priest's servant came, while the flesh was in seething, with a fleshhook of three teeth in his hand; And he struck it into the pan, or kettle, or caldron, or pot; all that the fleshhook brought up the priest took for himself. So they did in Shiloh unto all the Israelites that came thither. Also before they burnt the fat, the priest's servant came, and said to the man that sacrificed, Give flesh to roast for the priest; for he will not have sodden flesh of thee, but raw.  
  7. Our children must not be left on their own to make their choices without our guidance . for children left on their own , without supervision, often bring shame and a short life span.  1 Samuel 4:17-18 And the messenger answered and said, Israel is fled before the Philistines, and there hath been also a great slaughter among the people, and thy two sons also, Hophni and Phinehas, are dead, and the ark of God is taken. And it came to pass, when he made mention of the ark of God, that he fell from off the seat backward by the side of the gate, and his neck brake, and he died: for he was an old man, and heavy. And he had judged Israel forty years. 
  8. Children left on their own can also bring shame to the family. I remember long ago when an aspiring presidential candidate in my country had to call it quite because his son was caught with drugs in a foreign country. despite his formidable resume he had no choice than to quite the race. Proverbs 29:15 The rod and reproof give wisdom: but a child left to himself bringeth his mother to shame. May i add  shame to the father, also.

 Recently, the general oversea and founder of Living Faith Church, Bishop David Oyedepo, marked his 70th birthday.
