WHY CHRISTIANS WORSHIP ON SUNDAYS

2 Timothy 2:23: But foolish and unlearned questions avoid, knowing that they do gender strifes.

The question of why we worship on Sundays and not on Saturdays if we are to follow the old testament day. First let me commend those who could find out that Saturdays are the days for worship if they follow the old testament. This we can find out in the ten commandments; Saturday as a day of rest and worship to God. Your quest for answers is well. The apostle paul commended certain Christians living in Beroea, Acts 17:11-12 These were more noble than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness of mind, and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so. Therefore, many of them believed; also of honourable women which were Greeks, and of men, not a few. Sound doctrines and a deep faith come not with shouting and dancing, but a commitment to read, comprehend and above all ask questions without reservations. It is these answered questions that give rise to strong faith and persuasions to our belief so that when the ill wind blows; we survive and never blown away. Now the first thing that ought to come to you is that the body of believers, the church, is not under the old testament. Yes, I say assert so with proof from the scripture and indeed, all I will put here will be with scriptural references. Paul states in the book of Romans 6:14 For sin shall not have dominion over you: for ye are not under the law, but under grace. The church which Chris is the head is under grace and not under the law like in the old testament. In Galatians 3:23-25 But before faith came, we were kept under the law, shut up unto the faith which should afterwards be revealed. Wherefore the law was our schoolmaster to bring us unto Christ, that we might be justified by faith. But after that faith is come, we are no longer under a schoolmaster. Moreover, the book of Hebrews 7:12 For the priesthood being changed, there is made of necessity a change also of the law.

Jesus appeared after resurrection not on Saturday see Matthew 28:1 In the end of the sabbath, as it began to dawn toward the first day of the week, came Mary Magdalene and the other Mary to see the sepulchre. That is SUNDAY!

Jesus continues to appear not on Saturday, but on Sundays see john20:19,26. let read together , John 20:19 Then the same day at evening, being the first day of the week, when the doors were shut where the disciples were assembled for fear of the Jews, came Jesus and stood in the midst, and saith unto them, Peace be unto you.

John 20:26 And after eight days again his disciples were within, and Thomas with them: then came Jesus, the doors being shut, and stood in the midst, and said, Peace be unto you. After eight days- will mean it was Sunday!

The Pentecostal power, the Holy spirit, fell on the disciples on Sunday. The day of Pentecost; the fiftieth day;The day after the expiration of seven weeks from the Passover. The Jews celebrated it as the anniversary of the giving of the law on Mount Sinai. That day by calculation fell on the first day of the week, Sunday!

The early church always met on Sundays: Acts 20:7 And upon the first day of the week, when the disciples came together to break bread, Paul preached unto them, ready to depart on the morrow; and continued his speech until midnight.

Jesus appeared to John the apostle on the island of Patmos on Sunday! Revelation 1:10-11 I was in the Spirit on the Lord’s day, and heard behind me a great voice, as of a trumpet, Saying, I am Alpha and Omega, the first and the last: and, What thou seest, write in a book, and send it unto the seven churches which are in Asia; unto Ephesus, and unto Smyrna, and unto Pergamos, and unto Thyatira, and unto Sardis, and unto Philadelphia, and unto Laodicea.

See you in church this Sunday, the day of the lord.
