Different kinds of fathers

 Genesis 9:22-26 And Ham, the father of Canaan, saw the nakedness of his father, and told his two brethren without. And Shem and Japheth took a garment, and laid it upon both their shoulders, and went backward, and covered the nakedness of their father; and their faces were backward, and they saw not their father’s nakedness. And Noah awoke from his wine, and knew what his younger son had done unto him. And he said, Cursed be Canaan; a servant of servants shall he be unto his brethren. And he said, Blessed be the LORD God of Shem; and Canaan shall be his servant.

These are the unforgiven fathers. hard as they come. They do not care about what their action will bring about. They are shortsighted and do not see that their utterances as fathers could affect the lives of their offsprings. All their children can remember of growing up are the bellows, the curses and abuse. Nothing more to remember.

Genesis 19:31-36 And the firstborn said unto the younger, Our father is old, and there is not a man in the earth to come in unto us after the manner of all the earth: Come, let us make our father drink wine, and we will lie with him, that we may preserve seed of our father. And they made their father drink wine that night: and the firstborn went in, and lay with her father; and he perceived not when she lay down, nor when she arose. And it came to pass on the morrow, that the firstborn said unto the younger, Behold, I lay yesternight with my father: let us make him drink wine this night also; and go thou in, and lie with him, that we may preserve seed of our father. And they made their father drink wine that night also: and the younger arose, and lay with him; and he perceived not when she lay down, nor when she arose. Thus were both the daughters of Lot with child by their father.

These are the ones who are never bothered about the future of their children. They neither pray nor sacrifice for them. If the children of lots could think in their own small minds about their future, why would their own father not? The future of our children must be uppermost in our minds. Failure to do this could be catastrophic like what happened to lot.

Isaac’s household:

Genesis 25:21-23 And Isaac intreated the LORD for his wife, because she was barren: and the LORD was intreated of him, and Rebekah his wife conceived. And the children struggled together within her; and she said, If it be so, why am I thus? And she went to inquire of the LORD. And the LORD said unto her, Two nations are in thy womb, and two manner of people shall be separated from thy bowels; and the one people shall be stronger than the other people; and the elder shall serve the younger.God in the above bible verse told Isaac that he was about to become the father of a twin, and most important he was told how the composition will be. This is supposed to guide Isaac in his dealing with his children and wife. He failed woefully. How? was he forgetful? did he tried to supplant God’s position by asking Esau to prepare him a meal that he will give him the patriarchal blessings? But God has expressly told him that the elder shall serve the younger.

for one, he loved Esau for a very flippant reason: Genesis 25:28 And Isaac loved Esau, because he did eat of his venison: but Rebekah loved Jacob. If he choose one, why would the wife not choose the other, too. Thus, the house was divided with both parents having their own plan and no one thought about what God’s plan is. Yet, God won while the couple lost. Let us note that Isaac’s blessing never came to pass till Jacob became Israel that was god’s time. His prayers were postponed until this timing of God.

King David: lack insight on how to be a good father. His failure embodies his son, Absalom, to do the unthinkable. Typical sample they pamper their children so much that they spoil them. They opened the door for trouble to visit their homes. Their sinful tendencies affected the performance of their children. King David was not a good gatekeeper to prevent calamity from his household, but he indeed opened that gate.

King Solomon: so wealthy had no time to prepare his son for the gargantuan task that lies ahead of him as the future king, the crown prince. Had a lot of women. Got busy expanding and building on the pea eful reign he inherited from king David, his father and exploiting the people for personal wealth. He was a typical capitalist.

King Saul: a typical mafia of a father. Driven by personal ambition; Fighting against the will of God; trying to raise his son to be like him which eventually led the young man to his death, whom he sees as too weak to be a man, once rebuked him for loving David he wondered why his son did not see David as the one who will take wants to take the kingship from him, Jonathan Wanted to kill his son at some point. They will introduce them to same cult, kill in their presence and tell them to watch them do it. If their children dared disobey them they do not flinch at the thought of killing him.1 Samuel 14:44-46 And Saul answered, God do so and more also: for thou shalt surely die, Jonathan. And the people said unto Saul, Shall Jonathan die, who hath wrought this great salvation in Israel? God forbid: as the LORD liveth, there shall not one hair of his head fall to the ground; for he hath wrought with God this day. So the people rescued Jonathan, that he died not. Then Saul went up from following the Philistines and the Philistines went to their own place. Such fathers led their kids to their untimely death with their domineering attitude. His evil ambition to leave the throne for Jonathan and Jonath’s love for David made him angry with his jonathan1 Samuel 20:30 Then Saul’s anger was kindled against Jonathan, and he said unto him, Thou son of the perverse rebellious woman, do not I know that thou hast chosen the son of Jesse to thine own confusion, and unto the confusion of thy mother’s nakedness? Thus King Saul dragged his son, Jonathan, to his untimely death.
