Man Castrates Self to serve God properly

Wonders, they say, shall never end, but in Benue state of Nigeria, it was one step taken too far. Some ears tingle and some were completely Revulsed when the news broke;

Terhemen Anongo, a 44-year-old resident of Gboko in Benue State, has removed his testicles “to avert sexual desire”.

Anongo, who is a medical school drop-out, claimed the decision will enable him to serve God properly.

Last year, he had removed one testicle by himself, almost losing his life.

He came into limelight in March after he undertook the surgery, which resulted in profuse bleeding.

The timely intervention of those who knew about his plight saved the situation as medical practitioners rallied round to give him attention.

Anongo, who dropped out from the University of Ibadan medical school over alleged ill health, had said the castration was based on his religious belief that since he was not married, he needed to serve God faithfully. This is not the first time that Anongo’s actions have baffled people. He was a 500 level medical student in one of the premier university in the country, only to drop out according to him because of severe depression.

Speaking on telephone with newsmen in Makurdi on Sunday, the medical student now turned a wheel barrow pusher, said, “I went to remove the second testicle based on religious belief. I removed it on Monday. The first one had minor hitches but this one, having learnt from that experience, I did (remove) it very well. Somebody is always coming to dress it for me.

“I’m fine. There is no problem. I’m only waiting for when the wound will heal so I can remove the stitches.”

God did not recommend the act of spilling own blood in the old testament. It was a common practice for the heathens of those days that they have to inflict injuries, pain on themselves if they must pleased thier God and make him answer thier request speedily.

Ascetic practice is not the christian way of life and was practiced by the jews. The efficacy of Christian is based on his power to enable, energize and accomplish. That was why Jesus told his disciples after his ascension.Luke 24:49 And, behold, I send the promise of my Father upon you: but tarry ye in the city of Jerusalem, until ye be endued with power from on high. It is the work of the Holy spirit within us to give us the power to overcome temptation if we are willing to rely on him. Without the power of the holy spirit, Christianity is not possible. It was the holy spirit that gave the disciples power to perform courage to continue in the face of threat to live, smiling and happy during persecution. These are humanly impossible. We are mortals and the Holy spirit helps our mortals weaknesses read Psalms 119:37 Turn away mine eyes from beholding vanity; and quicken thou me in thy way.Romans 8:11 But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwelleth in you.Psalms 119:40 Behold, I have longed after thy precepts: quicken me in thy righteousness.

simply solution lies in:

FLEE FROM YOUR WEAKNESS:2 Timothy 2:22 Flee also youthful lusts: but follow righteousness, faith, charity, peace, with them that call on the Lord out of a pure heart.

PRAY FOR POWER TO OVERCOME:Matthew 6:13 And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.

We can not stop the evil bird from flying over our head, but we can stop it from perching on our head.
