POWER TO PROSPER

 Deuteronomy 8:18 But thou shalt remember the LORD thy God: for it is he that giveth thee power to get wealth, that he may establish his covenant which he sware unto thy fathers, as it is this day.

One could easily sneer at such a promise coming from a mere mortal, especially in these austere times with the powerful nations admitting near failure in proffering solutions. ‘But thou shall remember the lord thy God for it is he that gives thee power to get wealth, that he may establish his covenant which he swear unto thy fathers, as it is this day’. The exception to the above rule is that this promise is for all who believes and is a member of the royal priesthood and a holy nation. See1 Peter 2:9, But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light: what, therefore, is the power to get wealth? In the original Greek, there are many words referring to power. ‘Dunamis’ also refers to power, but of God via the Holy spirit chiefly to display the miracle of God. The word ‘KOACH’, pronounced ‘KO-AKH’ which refers to human, angel or even God’s power, is what is referred to in Deutoronomy8:18. The primary race who got this promise were the Jews. The ‘koakh’ is not a physical display of strength, but a power that lies within, not to pull down gates like Samson, but to progress in whatever they do. An ability to produce wealth by virtue of what you plant in the soil as a farmer or do. A careful look at the lives of those who had it in biblical times showed it was power within to be fruitful, multiply and replenish[Genesis2:28]Isaac had it and this pelted him against the philistines because he prospered easily and everywhere he goes.it is also a ‘quickening spirit’. Isaac unearths the wells the wells that were filled with sands, calling them by their names and water came forth. One should not forget that in those days, the sole possession of wells and cattle was a giant spring board to wealth. Water, especially, was a scarce resource commodity in those deserts. For Isaac to easily dig wells flowing with water in those days was like hitting black gold. That was why the inhabitant of the land got jealous and envied him. Can Christians lay claims to these promises? Yes. Can all Christians lay claims to riches? The poor, like Jesus said, will always be with you;this is not a curse, but a fact of life as many things comes to play in wealth acquisition.it is possible for all to be rich, but all can be rich for many lack what it takes to gain wealth: vision, talents,and many more factors are responsible for wealth. Christians should not forget God. There are general laws that normally bring about prosperity and when we follow such laws we shall prosper. the bible tells us about those who were rich, but were not converts.Proverbs 10:4 ;He becometh poor that dealeth with a slack hand: but the hand of the diligent maketh rich.See also 12:24]
