OPEN LETTER TO THE CHRISTIANS IN UKRAINE
Judges 11:13 And the king of the children of Ammon answered unto the messengers of Jephthah, Because Israel took away my land, when they came up out of Egypt, from Arnon even unto Jabbok, and unto Jordan: now therefore restore those lands again peaceably
When the noise of war was sounding in Ukraine since September of last year 2021, the world thought it would never happen. For one, it was too expensive for the Russia and for the other it is rather quaint that a superpower would go invade a nation at his border with a close historical tie. Yet, here we are—– those trapped, hearing the thunderous sound of bombs and witnessing the ominous armoured tanks rolling. For those of us outside, watching the unfolding horror with disbelief as video clips filtered out on social media platforms. The outrage from the rest of the world was palpable. America and European union, responded with sanctions.
The first time the word ‘WAR’, appeared in the bible, is in the book of genesis; Genesis 14:2, That these made war with Bera king of Sodom, and with Birsha king of Gomorrah, Shinab king of Admah, and Shemeber king of Zeboiim, and the king of Bela, which is Zoar. And the last time is in the book of revelation. see Revelation 19:19 And I saw the beast, and the kings of the earth, and their armies, gathered together to make war against him that sat on the horse, and against his army.
To you, brethren, in Ukraine, I want you to know that war is nothing new. The holy book is replete with wars. Therefore, do not see it as something strange is happening to you. Before, this unfortunate incidence there has been war as well. But know this: God is not unaware of what you are going through. The same God who was alive then is also alive now. The same God who saw his people through those days of different war is still alive and he will se you through. Know this that Christians all over the world have you in their prayers; many pulpits will open today with prayers for the people of Ukraine and many alters will offer intercession, especially to the household of faith. I want you to remember this famous passage in the bible. Psalms 137:1 By the rivers of Babylon, there we sat down, yea, we wept, when we remembered Zion. War brings about a displacement of families, shattered dreams and hope, ruined economy and majestic structures, dead of loved ones. It is a time that will begin reminiscence of the past and that will last a long time. In the above passage, we see it. When you remember your country, you will weep. Do not stop the tears, let it flow, but do not give up hope for ever returning to your land. Brace up yourselves for whatever you may experience; there is noway it will be like your own country, but God, who was with Joseph while in prison, while as a slave in the house of Potiphar, will always be with you. Let your bible be the closest companion to you, answer your children’s questions with wisdom and without bitterness. Your hope will not fail you and, above all, your faith will become stronger. The people of Israel experience what you are going through, but never gave up trusting in God; the same God you serve, he is not man that gets old and die He remains the same in power and might, the rock of ages. The one who promised to restore all.
You shall again come back to your beloved country as the Lord liveth.
Psalms 51:12 Restore unto me the joy of thy salvation; and uphold me with thy free spirit. This is our prayer for you all as you dispersed to other lands.
