The church is best understood when viewed for what it is. The church is a spiritual body, and Christ as the head of that body. It is noteworthy that this ‘body’ of Christ did not come into place until after his death, burial, and triumphant resurrection. For the church wherein he is the head and we the body was birthed after his resurrection and not before. See Matthew 26:26, and as they were eating, Jesus took bread, and blessed it , and brake it , and gave it to the disciples, and said, Take, eat; this is my body. See Ephesians 5:23, For the husband is the head of the wife, even as Christ is the head of the church: and he is the savior of the body. All those who have accepted the free gift of salvation through what Christ achieved on the cross of Calvary are automatically members of this body.
