Palm sunday attack left 30 dead
On monday 29th in Angwan Rukuba district in jos plateau state the relative peace of this palm sunday was suddenly shattered by the sound of machine guns the report says that the gumn men came on motorcycles [their favourite means of transportation] they then choose a popular sport, a drinking parlour while the people were charting and the sound of laughter rang out the bandit opened fire on those inside. Before one could say jack! 13 people lay dead on a day that is one of the sacred day in Christianity. But this time the people of this volatile region was not having it. T he reprisal attack was swift as about 10 members of the bandit were also cut down. This reprisal carried out by the youths have been commended by many Nigerians as the only way to curb the criminal excesses of these bandits. Usually no group claims responsibility , but their victims remains the same christian community. To douse the situation the University of jos which was very close to the community was closed and the ongoing exams postponed. The stat governor Caleb Mutfwang, followed suit by imposing a 48 curfew on the local government from midnight of March 29th till April 1, 2026. The president of the country Bola Tinubu [GFR] had called the attack barbarick and cowardly and directed the military to promptly track the perpetrators. The spate of attack on the Christian community in this northern state has been ongoing. The clash is over the farms land owned by the Christian christian community which the Fulani herdsmen often want to take over the farmlands by killing the farmers.
The middle belt of Nigeria has experienced 'christian massacre' for more than 5 years and it has continued unabated.
Please pray for the persecuted in this northern state of Nigeria.
