Five-year-old Hanifa killed by her teacher
Matthew 6:13 And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.
Kano, a northern state in Nigeria and indeed the entire country and far beyond its borders, is still reeling from the shock and seething with pain and fury over evil- unheard-of, as committed by a proprietor of a school.
The Kano State Government has shut Noble Kids Academy,in Nassarawa Local Government Area, where an abducted pupil, Hanifa Abubakar, was killed and buried.
Her teacher, Abdulmalik Mohammed Tanko, who has been arrested by the police abducted five-year-old Hanifa on 4 December.
Abdulmalik demanded a ransom of N6million but killed her after receiving the money.
“On investigation, Abdulmalik confessed that the victim, Hanifa, was his student at a private school in Kwanar Dakata, Nassarawa LGA, Kano State,” the Kano Police Command said in a statement.
“He kidnapped her and took her to his house where he contacted her relatives and demanded a ransom of Six Million Naira (N6,000,000),” the Public Relations Officer of the Kano Police Command, Haruna Kiyawa, said on Friday.
“On the 18/12/2021, having realised that the victim recognized him, he claimed to have poisoned her to death, conspired with one Hashim Isyaku and buried her in a shallow grave within the private school premises at Kwanar ‘Yan Gana, Tudun Murtala Quarters, Nassarawa LGA, Kano State.”
Across social media, the hashtag #JusticeForHanifa topped Facebook trend in Nigeria.
“Where are girls safe? Where are our kids safe? How low can people stoop in their quest for quick wealth?”. asked Mmiliaku Genevieve in a post on Facebook.
“This is an inhuman act. I cannot contemplate how a sane person would separate a little girl from her parents and subsequently kill her,” wrote David Ezra Nabasu.
We, in this blog, can not fathom why a man would allow himself to go so low with evil thoughts that culminated in an evil action. It is high time that prayers be directed at such evil perpetrators for a change of hearts. Apostle Paul, fully instructed us in the book of Romans 6:13 with these words: Neither yield ye your members as instruments of unrighteousness unto sin: but yield yourselves unto God, as those that are alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness unto God.
In Nigeria, kidnaping has gradually become a crime every dick and harry commits with ease and those of us in the diaspora find these crimes heinous and urge the law enforcement agencies to do more in curtailing and eventually eradicating this. We believe the government owns its citizenry adequate protection and a society that is safe, from free-flow of criminals. If a child left in the care of a caregiver is not safe, one wonders where then is safe? This is a grand betrayal by the school authority and those who approve schools without background checks.
While also praying for the bereaved family that God grant them the fortitude to bear the loss, we reiterate that sin factor is inherit in man and only the acceptance of Jesus christ into our life can transform us from the inherit evil.
