Is the tide changing?

Psalms 126:1, A Song of degrees. When the LORD turned again the captivity of Zion, we were like them that dream. [KJV]

It was October 31, 2025, and the Tweet on “Truth Social” that hit like a tornado goes like this: “Christianity is facing an existential threat in Nigeria. Thousands of Christians are being killed. Radical Islamists are responsible for this mass slaughter. I am hereby making Nigeria a “COUNTRY OF PARTICULAR CONCERN.” — But that is the least of it. When Christians, or any such group, is slaughtered like is happening in Nigeria (3,100 versus 4,476 worldwide), something must be done. I am asking Congressman Riley Moore, together with Chairman Tom Cole, and the House Appropriations Committee, to immediately look into this matter, and report back to me. The United States cannot stand by while such atrocities are happening in Nigeria, and numerous other countries. We stand ready, willing, and able to save our Great Christian population around the world.”

— DONALD J. TRUMP

PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA (October 31, 2025)

Since this tweet by POTUS, no news has generated interviews, street talk, bar talk, television appearances and many more. The office of the Nigerian president knew this would keep Aso Rock [home of the Nigerian presidency] awake for days to come. It gave them a big jolt followed by what seems to be damage control. This has been a Frontpage news on major newspapers and television channels. The government and top party stalwarts could not deny what has been festering for years, but were quick to say the killings, especially in the northern and middle belt was not only targeted at christian as reported by president Trump, but was on all side irrespective religious affiliation. Not a genocide, but a case of terror attacks by armed bandits from Libya and some Fulani herdsmen coming from the north to the middle belt because of climate change. In as much this persecuted Christians feel their prayers may have been answered by God, many still think interceding for the nation still comes first as Christians. Pastor Enoch Adeboye, the prominent pastor of RCCG, pleaded with the president to go along diplomatic lines and plead with POTUS to give a 100 days ultimatum for the Nigerian armed forces to deal with the terrorists. However, it should be noted that the American president said the force will target the bases of the terror groups and not the northern states or middle belt if US troops go in, as is being told by the administration sympathisers. There is empirical proof that Christians in the middle belt have been persecuted especially, Since the emergence of the terror group known as Boko Haram, ISIS-ISWAP and the Jihadist Herdsmen militants. Since the beginning of terrorist activities of kidnappings and killings in Nigeria, the Christian farmers have been displaced from their farmland, known no peace in their dwellings, and their worship centres have been razed down by fire. The unconstitutional enactment of Sharia laws in the northern states makes many think that the government was on its way to making Nigeria an Islamic state despite its secular outlook. And, to make matters worse, many Christians have been sentenced to prison terms and, in some trials, death for their faith in a country whose constitution floats secularism. Methinks the good thing about this whole thing is that either way the free rein of impunity and dastardly acts of these outlaws and enforcement of the sharia law in a secular state is coming to an end. Now that the whole world has been told, it is hoped the administration will develop the willpower and capacity to go after the terrorists and those financing them, who have been untouchable. It seems ironic that one of these Nigerian sheikhs, called Gumi, was declared persona non grata by the Saudi Arabia government because of what they perceived as extreme views. While we remember the 250 Christians who were massacred in Yewelta in Benue State in June 20205, and individuals who have been killed, let us all take solace in the world of God that says in Matthew 10:28, And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell. Also read 1 Thessalonians 4:16, For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: Between our cries and answer by God to any request is patience and when the appointed time comes nobody can stop it from manifesting; agaian i say have patience after your prayers.Luke 21:19, In your patience possess ye your souls.

Romans 5:3 And not only so, but we glory in tribulations also: knowing that tribulation worketh patience; [KJV]
